Dominican Higher Education Colloquium 2018

June 23, 2018 – Plenary – Keynote Speaker Sr. Diane Kennedy, O.P.

Title: A Possible Future for Dominican Higher Education in the Service of Truth

Can we do more than meet every two years and exchange e-mails? No other country has fourteen colleges founded by Dominican sisters’ congregations as well as three schools of theology founded by the friars. We are an American phenomenon. Might more sustained collaboration of our sixteen colleges and universities release the potential of our great intellectual tradition in a time of alternative facts and polarized perspectives? As we ponder a possible future, what can we learn from three decades of the Parable experience of Dominican collaboration based upon the assumption that collaboration is integral to the Dominican charism. How might more sustained collaboration energize our commitment to the service of truth in a world of fake news and alternative facts?
