ST. DOMINIC CHAPEL AND THE PRIORY CHAPEL MASS UPDATES ON AUGUST 6, 2020
Supporting the spiritual health of the Friar Family is critically important as we move into the fall semester and bring students, faculty, and staff back onto campus. Just as we need physical nourishment, so too do we need spiritual nourishment. While prayer can be done anywhere, the presence of the Lord in St. Dominic Chapel, especially in the Eucharist, make it a particular place to pray and find peace.
Currently, we do not have a regular Mass and confession schedule for the summer, please call 401-865-2216 or check the Campus Ministry website for updates about times for the sacraments. St. Pius V (across the street) has returned to a regular schedule (see below). St. Dominic Chapel will begin the regular schedule of Masses, confessions, Eucharistic adoration, and other devotional practices on Monday, August 24.
In light of state and diocesan guidelines, the following accommodations have been made.
Please make sure to use the hand sanitizer when entering and exiting the chapel. The pews have been marked according to physical distancing guidelines. The Chapel will be disinfected daily, with additional touch point cleanings throughout the day.
The community will continue to refrain from the Sign of Peace, and those in the congregation should not hold hands during the Our Father.
For Communion, please follow the new flow for the Communion lines and maintain proper physical distancing while in line. The ministers of Holy Communion have ablution bowls and hand sanitizer in case they come in physical contact with a communicant.
Please note, that no one is required to go to Holy Communion. Those attending Mass receive graces for being present at Mass even without receiving Communion. If someone does not feel comfortable going up for Communion, making an Act of Spiritual Communion is encouraged.
For Confessions, both options—face-to-face and behind the screen—are available with proper precautions and distancing put in place.
Weddings are still possible, and please contact Lisa Medeiros if you would like to enquire about a wedding in St. Dominic Chapel.
