Children’s Outreach connects PC students with local children in need through weekly volunteering. Our volunteers engage in weekly service at the sites in the Providence College Community, including Smith Hill Early Childhood Learning Center and St. Pius V Elementary School.
Along with our weekly service opportunities, Children’s Outreach also incorporates other events such as volunteering at the Harvest Festival at St. Pius V, which will take place on Saturday, October 13. Student volunteers participating in this fall fest will help run classic carnival games such as face painting and ring toss. It will be a fun way to get in the fall and Halloween spirit!
The Giving Tree is another great Children’s Outreach Tradition that occurs around Christmastime. Parents of the children at Smith Hill will give us gift ideas and we will make ornaments with each child’s name on it and their wish list. Our volunteers will sit in St. Dominic Chapel and Raymond Dining Hall with our Giving Tree and sign out ornaments to students at lunchtime before Thanksgiving break so they can buy the gifts over break, return them to us, and help the kids celebrate Christmas!

PC students can also choose to get involved with our mentoring program at the San Miguel School in Providence. This program brings students from the San Miguel School to campus several times each semester to meet with their PC student mentor and to get a feel for the college campus. If you’d like to be part of this, please contact: Jack Oricoli, Paul Kelley, or Pat Connolly.
